Nothing but positive things to say about this service. So-Cal Mods had great communication and answered any questions I had. Turnaround time was very fast. My switch was well packed on the return shipping. The service itself is awesome. I like to take things apart and tinker, but am not comfortable with micro-soldering so I decided to have someone else do this work. After a lot of research, this company/modder was the only one I found with a substantial online presence (website/active and well revered on Reddit/active in the mod community). I decided to pull the trigger. While the price was a little more than other modders I found, the results speak for themselves. My switch came back looking exactly as it did when I sent it; no additional scratches on the body or screen. Not even any scratches or marring on the screws. If it didn't boot up into hekate every time you powered it on, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was taken apart. Software side looks good as well. As someone new to the CFW switch scene, it is immediately obvious that the HATS pack is the way to go, which this modder installs. It came with everything I need to dump/install games, backup/transfer saves, overclock and plenty of additional features I haven't even dug into yet. On top of all this, the modder provides a lot of extremely useful guides on reddit to help you learn and get comfortable using CFW. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say about this service/modder. I'm grateful they offer these services and have already referred them to a couple friends who are interested in the same thing. While the price may be a bit more than what other modders charge, it is 1000% worth it for how professional and positive this whole experience is. If you're on the fence about who to send your switch to, take my advice and just send it to so-cal mods. You will not regret it. Also, be sure to check the FAQ on the site, and look up so-cal mods on reddit. (at the time of writing this review), so-cal mods offers a discount if you pay via cashapp or Zelle vs. Credit card. Also found on reddit that the modder offers a 6 month warranty on work done. Again, double check this info as the service provider has the right to change policies whenever they want, but I appreciated getting to save a few dollars (they also cover return shipping so factor that into your cost estimates) and the peace of mind that I can reach out to so-cal mods in the next 6 months if I have any service related problems.
Modchip installation was excellent, I could see no issues present or approaching on the board and I expect it to go a long time. The main issue i saw was with the software install. All the homebrew was set up nice (id like to see the folder where all this is stored for drag and drop bc of what im going to say next) but adding ghost eshop mightve been a mistake. In my experience, using tinfoil for game downloads instead of DBI and MTP will over time corrupt your SD card, which is what happened to me. I think if there was a way to grab all the files that was on the first install to just drag and drop to do it again, I wouldnt have any real complaints.

I had sent an SD card from a previously modded console, and the initial setup was able to be maintained and updated. They didn't have to do that but it was very helpful!

To start off, I was looking at this service for months prior to my order, and the end result is incredible!
Not only did they install the modchip, they also installed necessary software for gaming, as well! Even loaded retro titles on the device.
